Reading the books and dressing up for the midnight premiers of the Harry Potter movies have never been my thing. For days the only words have been about the movie in some way. So, I watched the seventh movie in theaters with a few friends, and I can relate to the fans. It is easy to see how it all became popular. When the movie ended, there was an art museum-like silence--everyone was in awe of the great thing that we witnessed. Harry Potter is possibly the single most defining aspect of this time period of popular culture. Things will be different when this sublime series ends, but there will still be fan-fiction.
